The WTO began life on 1 January 1995, but its trading system is half a century older. Since 1948, the General Agreement on Tariffs and Trade (GATT) had provided the rules for the system. The second ministerial meeting, held in Geneva in May 1998, included a celebration of the 50th anniversary of the system. The book is covering details of various meetings held in Cancún for regulating new trade policies. In the following pages the above problems have been discussed very briefly. The discussion has been divided into 12 chapters. Any chapters can be read independently, however, it is advisable to go through all chapters chronologically as the matter in all chapters is interrelated.
