Structural Changes And Productivity In Small Scale Industries

The focus of this book is on the study of growth and relative performance of small enterprises in Gujarat vis-a-vis all India. Extensive analysis of structural changes, factor intensity and factor productivity has been done at the state, regional and industrial levels. Besides, this book also examines the comparative performance small vis-a-vis large scale industries and reviews the importance assigned to the SSIs in the government policies. Statistical analysis is done at the all India level, state level and within the state of Gujarat at the district level. The book also examines the performance of SSIs at different locations and in different size groups. Statistical analysis is mainly based on the data obtained from both the Censuses of SSIs and the time series data published by the Industries Commissioner. For data analysis different analytical methods ranging from simple ratio analysis to more complex regression analysis were used. The book is both informative and exhaustive. The facts have been presented in an absorbing way. Data analysis presented in tabular form will be useful for further research on the related subjects.
