Human society is dynamic. Its socioeconomic and cultural landscape goes on changing constantly, consequent upon the interaction of physical and socio-cultural forces. From time immemorial, the society has moved from primitive communism to the present industrial stage. The present book in its revised version is an outcome of UGC sponsored research project. The agricultural labourers are landless, illiterate, ignorant, poor and suppressed from many centuries. They are victims of exploitation by zamindars, rich landlords and affluent rich peasants of upper castes or rich other backward castes also. Even after independence, their socio-economic and political condition is most appalling and frustrating. The author has highlighted the exploitation of the landless and illiterate scheduled caste agricultural labourers in detail survey work leading to their involvement in naxal activities. The author has critically analysed all these problems in detail which may be helpful to the planners and decisionmaking bodies at different levels.
