The present book deals with different important issues pertaining to social work profession and social welfare services of some of the countries of the world. It is an humble attempt to present a synthesised version of development of social work services in different countries. A historical review of socialwork profession in U.S.A., India, Latin America, Sweden and social welfare services of Japan and South Korea has been presented in a lucid manner. The book may be useful for students.learners and educators of social work.

Raj Bhanti retired as Principal at the Udaipur School of Social Work, Rajasthan Vidyapeeth (Deemed University), Udaipur, India, in 2001. Prior to this position, she worked as Director of field work for 17 years. She did her post-graduation in three subjects, viz., Social Work, Education and History. She was awarded her Ph.D. degree in 1979 in Social Work. During her outstanding career as a social work educator, she has worked on various assignments and positions. She worked as local project advisor for the students of School of International Training, World Learning Institute, Brattleboro, Vermont, U.S.A. she was guide and superior for the students of social work ad Stockholm University, Sweden, and Trondheim University, Norway. She has carried out several research projects and also guided postgraduate and Ph.D. researches in Social Work. She has authored and edited over half a dozen books and contributed numerous research papers in books and journalls of repute. Besides delivering talks and participating in several international meets in U.S.A., Japan, Sweden, Canada, South Korea, Malaysia, Singapore and Holland and other places, she is actively involved with national and local associations and chapters. Her major areas of interest have been welfare of women, children and old people; tribal welfare and rural development and methods of social work. At present she is Visiting Professof at Jain Vishva Bharti Institute, (Deemed University), Ladnun, Rajasthan.
