This book is a documentation of the journey of a young activist from her schooling to work on developmental issues both in the governmental and non-governmental sectors before reaching in University as teacher in Social Work Department. The outcome of her activities has been beautifully summarized in the book which will be very useful to readers as to know how a happening or intervention is documented in readers friendly way. Manju Panwar (b.1980) Assistant Professor, is teaching in the Department of Social Work, B.P.S Mahila Vishwavidhalaya, Khanpur Kalan, Sonipat, Haryana. She has the experience of over seven years as Social Work Educator, Researcher and Practitioner. She was the Young Professional with Council for Advancement of Rural Technology (CAPART) for three years and worked with Participatory Research in Asia (PRIA) on strengthening grassroots democracy in Haryana. She also worked with Empowerment and Sustainable Development Initiative (ESDI) as a State Coordinator where she worked intensively on the social mobilization, formation and stabilization of Self-Help Groups (SHGs). She was Consultant in the Women Awareness and Management Academy (WAMA), Sonipat, Government of Haryana and worked for the development of Shaskar Mahila Samooh (SMS) formed in each and every collage of Gram Panchayat of Haryana. She also worked as Programme Officer with Shastri Indo-Canadian Institute, New Delhi, which works on strengthening good relations between India and Canada. She completed various studies in the field of women empowerment, rural governance and rural development. Some of the studies she has completed are: Women in Panchayats, Domestic Violence against Women, Mapping Civil Society in Haryana, Impact Assessment of Welfare and Development Schemes and Programmes on Rural Poor Women in Haryana, National and Gram Sabha put Social Development Agenda before Gram Panchayats. Her articles on Gram Sabha, Self-Help Groups and Women Empowerment, Folk Media and Women Sarpanches have been published in Mainstream, Kurukshetra, Grameen Bharat, Panchayati Raj ?Update, Magazines and Journals. She has also published reviewed articles in Kurukshetra Journal. She also presented papers in the national and International workshops and conferences. She has also imparted training to Bankers, Sarpanches and Members of SHGs. Her areas of interest are women's Empowerment, Micro Finance, Panchayati Raj Institutions Community Mobilization and Community Health.
