Attainment of education is natural for every one, like receiving the air or water to sustain one’s life. Education is the birth right of any individual. The role of Universal Elementary Education (UEE) for strengthening the social fabric of democracy, through the provision of equal opportunities to all, has been accepted, since the inception of our Republic. With the formulation of National Policy of Education (NPE), India initiated a wide range of programmes for achieving the goal of UEE. Now, Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan (SSA) is implemented as India’s main programme for universalising elementary education. Its overall goals need to be aligned with legally mandated norms and standards and free entitlements, mandated by the Right to Education Act. In fact, Right to Education is a legal right now. This study on Right to Education, is a novel endeavour, in its own right, as it addresses all issues, concerning education in India. This book is a valuable asset for all scholars, researchers, educationists, teachers and students, alike.
