History Of The Christian Missions In Manipur And Other Neighbouring States

This book narrates the story of the sctivities of the Christian Missionaries in Manipur and the neighbouring areas in the later half of the 19th Century which resulted in the conversion of a large number of the hill people into Christian faith. There was initially great opposition to proselytisation from the hill people whose customs, habits and animistic practices conflicted with the new religion, the missionaries sought to spread among them. The book vividly describes these early conflicts as well as the final truimph of the efforts of the missions on the basis of the vast original source materialavailable on the subject.
