Gandhism is a living thought for solving the social, economic and political problems of the day. It is becoming more and more relevant with the passing of time by virtue of the use of moral principles in each and every field. Very soon the world will be entering into the 21st century. The world’s present picture of developmental status is dark and it is likely to deteriorate further and put the coming generation in more trouble. Looking at the present way of finding solutions to the problems faced by humanity, one can hardly hold an optimistic view that potent solutions shall be found. In such a dilemma the only ray of hope comes from the Gandhian way of finding solution to the problems. There has been massive literature on or about Gandhi but it has hardly touched the new generation. Reconstruction of Gandhism is necessary. We have to interpret Gandhi in terms of ecological challenges comparatives of globalisation, privatisation and liberalisation in economics, growing terrorism, consumerism and gender discrimination and so on. This book is an attempt to interpret Gandhism keeping in view the problems threatening 21st century. The present volume contains thought provoking articles and research papers contributed by eminent Gandhian scholars and academics. Efforts have been made to make it comprehensive enough to be helpful to academicians, researchers, students of Gandhian Thought/Peace Studies and generality of readers keen to study Gandhism. It may prove equally useful for the policy makers and the activists who can apply the Gandhian principles to solving the present day problems.
