This volume is the outgrowth of the research work done by the author for award of Ph.D degree and is probably the first research work on the subject completed in the country. It has made an in-depth study of financial working of Foreign Multinational Banks in India since 1960 and the book covers all foreign banks which were registered in India. Apart from studying the magnitude and nature of operation of these banks, the book has also assessed the regulatory framework of banking legislation which has a direct bearing on the functioning of foreign banks in the country. It makes a critical study of deposits, advances, investments and earnings and expenditure etc. to analyse the operating efficiency which has been estimated with the help of accounting and statistical tools of analysis. It also makes a comparative analysis of working of foreign multinational banks operating in India and Indian multinational banks operating in foreign countries. This has increased considerably the credibility of this study.
