The Indian Co-operative Movement is more than 100 years old and also it is the largest one in the world. There are about 5.5 lakh different forms of co-operatives working in almost all sectors of the economy. Since independence they have been playing a very significant role in promoting agricultural and rural development and employment generation. In this process the co-operatives facilitated the emergence of Green Revolution. Recently the Government has agreed to provide Rs. 15000 crore for strengthening the co-operative banking system and further for safeguarding co-operative autonomy it introduced in Parliament the 106th Constitutional Amendment Bill. This Book brings together articles/research papers contributed by scholars who belong to different universities, colleges, institutions and professionals working in various co-operatives. The contributors have presented their best analytic rigour for issues connected with different aspects of the co-operative sector. The papers in this volume have been grouped in different sections. Section I: Globalisation and Co-operatives; Section II: Co-operative Banking; Section III: Co-operative Marketing; Section IV: HRM in Co-operatives; Section V: Dairy Co-operatives; Section VI: Agro-processing Co-operatives; Section VII: Consumer Co-operatives and others; Section VIII: Management Cases on Co-operatives. Surely this book will be quite useful for policy makers, researchers, academicians and Co-operative Managers and trainers in co-operatives.
