About the Book

The book written in simple language deals with the objectives. tools and techniques of research study and significance of the study of evaluation systems in Adult Education. It deals with some of the significant evaluation studies conducted in India and abroad. This book also emphasises various concepts of adult education. A chapter ofn perspectives of adult education studies in detail the geographical and demographic characterstics of Goa. Besides this, the historical review of education and literacy position after the liberation of Goa is highlighted with its current literacy position at national level. In exclusively separate chapters. the book deals with the concepts objectives, need,different phases, levels, types, methods and procedures and reporting systems of quick appraisal, learner evaluation, monitoring and adult education evaluation, taking into consideration the three main components of NAEP i.e., literacy awareness and functionality. The book is likely to prove extremely useful for Adult Education Functionaries working at all levels in the State and Central Governments, department of adult / continuing education of various universities, co-ordinaters and N.S.S. volunteers in the colleges and also research and post-graduate students in various universities.


Dr. Marutirae Ramachandrarao Nimbalkar (b. 1944) obtained B.A. (Hons) degree from Rajaram College, Kolhapur in 1968, M.A. in Sociology (1970), B.Ed. (1973) from Karnatak University, Dharwar, M.Ed. (1977) from the University of Poona, Pune and Ph.D. in Education from the University of Bombay, Bombay (1984). He served as Lecturer in Sociology in Degree College of Arts, Karwar (N.K.) for few years and as Assistant Social Education Officer in the Directorate of Education, Govt. of Goa , Daman & Diu for 14 years since 1973. He has handled the schemes in the field of Adult Education, Non-formal Education and Continuing Education. He represented the Directorate of Education, Goa Administration in various regional and national level orientation courses, seminars, workshops on monitoring and evaluation in adult education, audio-visual education, etc. He has varied experience in the field of adult/continuing education, and also non-formal education. He has contributed a few research articles which were published in the reputed journals at national level. Currently he is serving as principal, Navodaya Vidyalaya, Canacona, Goa under the control of the Union Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India, New Delhi.
